FOR FARMING FOR FOUR GENERATIONS
Semlin Valley Ranch has been proudly providing customers throughout British Columbia with local, quality beef products since the 1860s.
It all started during the BC gold rush
Charles Semlin, the original owner of Semlin Valley Ranch, began raising cattle on the property in the 1860s to meet the needs of the huge influx of people arriving in BC for the gold rush. While over a century has passed since operation on the ranch began, the four generations of ranchers that have tended to their cattle on the property have always maintained the highest level of dedication and passion for raising high-quality beef products that anyone would be proud to serve to their family or customers.
In 2013, Jordan and Pamela bought Semlin Valley Ranch, becoming the fourth generation of ranchers along with their young family to raise their cattle and diversified crops. We know that many people have relied on the products produced by Semlin Valley Ranch for over a century and we want to continue this legacy. That is why we work hard to honour the long-standing history of the ranch by focusing on animal welfare, sustainable agricultural practices, reducing our carbon footprint, customer satisfaction, and being Stewards of our land. Providing premium, local, BC raised beef and getting it into the direct hands of our customers is what we strive to do every day.
We are committed to our historic lands and ecosystems
At Semlin Valley Ranch, we understand that we are a part of the surrounding landscape and that we share the land with the native wild animals. We work hard to not disturb the local wildlife through our operation because we know that, when you disrupt these animals, you throw the entire ecosystem out of balance.
We also focus on preserving our ecosystems by:
- Using the most efficient irrigation systems we can
- Selecting breeds of cattle that are more efficient to feed
- Utilizing more eco-friendly agricultural inputs
- Monitoring our carbon and sequestion and becoming a carbon trusted farm
We are proud to provide a selection of high-quality beef products to a variety of local restaurants and grocery stores throughout BC. All of our beef products are raised to meet the highest animal welfare standards and are processed federally, giving you complete peace of mind that you are purchasing the best product for you and your family.
